Head Trainer & Founder
"I know what it feels like to be afraid of your own dog — and I know what it feels like to fall completely in love with them again."

My relationship with dogs started the way it does for a lot of families — with love, good intentions, and not nearly enough information. As a kid, I was gifted a rescue dog who struggled in ways nobody around us understood. Watching that dog suffer through fear and confusion, and feeling completely helpless, left a mark on me that never went away.

Instead of walking away from dogs, I walked toward understanding them. I spent two years in a formal professional training program, where I trained my first dog and began to see how profoundly a dog's behavior could shift when someone finally communicated with them in a language they understood. That experience changed everything. I added two rescue dogs to my own family — and it was through working with them daily, patiently, that I truly mastered recall training and built a practice grounded in trust rather than control.

For three years I traveled directly to clients' homes, working one-on-one with dogs of every breed, background, and behavioral history. I sat in living rooms with frustrated families who had tried everything. I walked leashes with parents whose kids were afraid of their own dog. I worked with rescues who had been returned more than once because nobody took the time to understand what they needed.

That is why Canine Compassion Collective exists. Not for perfect dogs — but for real ones. And for the families who love them enough to show up, even when it is hard. If any part of your story sounds familiar, you are exactly who I built this for.

Real families. Real transformation.

Questions we hear a lot

If your question is not here, just ask — Kailyn answers every message personally.

What happens in the free first session?
It is a real working session, not a sales call. We meet your dog, talk through what is going on, look at your day-to-day setup, and start on the first thing that will make a difference. You leave with something to practise whether or not you book again.
Do you come to our home?
Yes. Most sessions happen in your home and neighbourhood, because that is where the behaviour actually shows up. A dog who is perfect in a training hall and impossible on your own street has not learned much that helps you. For work that needs a different setting, we also train in public spaces and shops.
Which areas do you serve?
Training sessions are based in Milwaukee and Shorewood, plus the surrounding area. If you are a little further out, ask — and if travel is not practical, Virtual Coaching covers most of the same ground. Pet sitting is the exception — Kailyn travels for those bookings.
What does training cost?
Sessions run from $95 for virtual coaching up to $225 for behaviour work, and every rate is listed on the services above — no quote-on-request pricing. Your first session is free, and members pay 10–30% less depending on their plan.
What training methods do you use?
Force-free, reward-based methods grounded in behavioural science. No prong collars, no shock collars, no intimidation — not as a last resort either. Punishment can suppress a behaviour without changing how a dog feels, and with fear or reactivity that usually makes things worse later.
My dog is reactive or anxious. Is that something you handle?
Yes — it is a large part of the work. Reactivity, fear, separation distress and tension between dogs in one household all get the same approach: work at a distance and pace your dog can actually cope with, and build from there. It is slower than obedience work, and it is worth it.
How old does a puppy need to be to start?
You can start the day they come home, usually around eight weeks. The socialisation window closes earlier than most people expect — roughly sixteen weeks — so the early weeks matter more than any other period in a dog’s life. Waiting until a puppy is “old enough to train” means missing it.
How long will it take?
Honestly, it depends on the dog and on how much practice happens between sessions. Manners and puppy foundations often move quickly. Fear and reactivity are measured in months, not weeks. We would rather tell you that up front than sell you a number we cannot promise.
Do I have to join a membership?
No. Every service can be booked on its own. Memberships exist for families who want ongoing support between sessions and cheaper rates over time — they are a convenience, not a gate.
Do you offer pet sitting or boarding?
Pet sitting, yes — overnight care in your own home while you are away, charged per night, keeping your dog on their normal routine. Kailyn travels for sitting bookings, so distance is not a limit — it just factors into the rate. Board & Train, where your dog stays with us for an immersive programme, is opening soon and you can join the waitlist from the services above.
What do we need to do between sessions?
Short, regular practice — a few minutes a day beats one long session a week. You get written notes and a plan in your client portal after every appointment, so nobody has to rely on remembering what was said.
Still not sure where to start? Ask Kailyn directly — the first session is free either way.

Your free consultation is one step away.
